How to Change IP Address?

The Internet Protocol (IP) address is popularly known as the IP address. This private address is used by PCs for any computer network for the communication and identification processes. It is used for the identification of electronic devices connected on a network. Therefore every device is provided with a unique address.

There could be several reasons as to why you might want to change IP. Fortunately, this is something that a user can generally accomplish without any hassle. The exact methods are likely to vary. This depends on how the system of the PC is set up. Here are some basic instructions for some more popular systems.

1. Before getting more specific with the operating systems, you could try any of the two approaches. First, detach the cable or DSL modem for a couple of minutes. Five minutes is generally enough to reset the IP address before you restart the modem again and switch on the power. If five minutes is not enough, try to leave the modem off and keep it unplugged overnight. This has an excellent chance of working in several cases. However, this isn't a universal method to fix the system.

2. Click on Start, then Run, and then enter CMD. This would provide space to enter the phrase "ipconfig/release." Exclude the quotation marks. After the system accepts the command, enter the phrase "ipconfig/renew."

3. An alternative that could be tried on windows is to shut down the machine after entering the "ipconfig/release" command. The system is kept switched off overnight, ensuring to turn off the Ethernet and the cable/DSL modems. When you switch on the system the next morning, the IP address is likely to be reset.

Every IP address is only one of its kinds. Make sure that you take great care at the time you change address. Computers are electronic appliances. They are likely to stop working if any hardware or software goes wrong.
