Products Of Today's Technology
Since it really came onto the market in the early 2000s, with its' MP3 players, Apple Inc. has become a company that has really saturated every market it enters. Just in the last ten years, the company has come a long way in terms of the products and services it offers its' customers. From the cell phone industry to reinventing the computer industry, this corporation has become a huge American sensation. In terms of services, the company offers iPod screen repair and iPhone screen repair, to name a few by appointment. If that does not work, they have contracted other companies who specialize in these products to help do the fixing the machine.
The company started in the computer business as a competitor to regular personal computers (PCs) that were made mainly using Microsoft software. Originally, Apple did not really come close to a PC, since most businesses already started with PCs the cost to switch was too high and the best operating system was originally with Windows. They came up with the iMac in the early 2000's, which began the Mac revolution. People started buying these for their own personal use then smaller companies began using them because when they started they started using Macs right away because they developed a good reputation. Since then, they have launched newer, sleeker desktops, and they also made their computers compatible with Microsoft, making it easier for companies to switch to their products.
In the early 2000's, the first MP3 player was launched, which made both Apple and digital music an overnight success. With digital music, came an online Internet store for music, where customers can buy their items, another product launched by this company. After the original was launched, they then launched variations of the products such as the shuffle and the nano. These were a lower price than the original, but they had less memory to accommodate those who just want to use these items for smaller amounts of music.
More recently, Apple has entered the cell phone business. They have come out with iPhones that allow customers to have faster internet service on their phones, and they were the first to introduce "applications" or "apps" on cell phones. They also maintained complete control over their phones by not allowing other companies to sell Apple products under their name. They have partnered with one company, making the product more elusive and therefore creating a little bit of a shortage in order to make the product stand out.
It will be very interesting to see if any other companies can come close to the success this company has had. Some cell phone companies have started to compete by introducing cell phones that have faster Internet service and better "apps" for the phones. As far as the MP3 players, no one has really come close to creating a comparable or better product. Microsoft did launch the Zune in the mid 2000's, but it was soon taken off the market because it was said to have had too many issues. The future of this company continues to be bright as they are constantly coming up with tomorrow's item, today.
